Easter weekend 2011- Rutland Water with Bessie.....

Our first outing in 2011 to Rutland Water in Leicestershire.  It was fantastic weather and we stayed at a temporary campsite on the edge of the water.  There must have been 500+ caravans and motorhomes spread over 4 fields but it was quiet and very relaxing!
We spent every day walking or cycling around the lake (17 miles or 26 if you decided to include the peninsula).
Rutland water was completed in 1977 by flooding two villages...this church (Normanton church) was on a hill in one of them at that time.

There were some lovely villages and old churches. Some of the carvings and font in one of them dated from the 16th century.
And of course, bluebells and lambs all over the place!
